Explore Australian Botanic Gardens – Mount Annan

The Australian Botanic Garden Mount Annan is one of Western Sydney’s most beautiful destinations — over 400 hectares of gardens, scenic walking trails and stunning seasonal displays, and it’s completely free to visit.

Paper Daisy Season

From now until early October, the Connections Garden bursts into a pink wonderland thanks to thousands of paper daisies — usually found in WA, but right here in Western Sydney we have one of the biggest displays on the east coast.

What started back in 1995 has grown into a much-loved spring tradition. Every year the horticulture team transforms the garden into a carnival of colour, and this year’s conditions mean the flowers are looking extra spectacular. Over 2,000 square metres of blooms make this one of the prettiest spots in NSW for a spring walk and a few photos.

Nature Walks and Scenic Trails

As the largest botanic garden in Australia, Mount Annan offers beautiful walking trails through native bushland and gardens. Don’t miss the Caley Peak lookout, which offers stunning panoramic views across the surrounding landscape — well worth the walk up.

PlantBank

For something a little different, PlantBank offers an interesting look into seed banking and the work being done to preserve native plant species — a great way to spend half an hour learning something new.

Café and Picnic Areas

The Café at the Bowden Centre is a lovely spot to relax with a coffee after a walk, or pack a picnic and take advantage of the many picnic spots dotted throughout the gardens.

Parkrun

A community-led Parkrun takes place every Saturday from 8am — a great way to start the weekend with a free 5km run or walk through the gardens. View it here. Hawkesbury Australia
