Calli’s Grill: Cajun Seafood in Western Sydney

Calli’s Grill is where Western Sydney goes for a messy, saucy Cajun seafood boil, and you don’t have to leave St Marys to get it. Grab the bibs, If you’ve been scrolling seafood boil videos and wondering where to get one out west, it’s Calli’s Grill. Expect saucy buckets, sticky fingers and zero chance of staying clean.

Calli’s runs out of the West Sydney Food Truck Park on the Great Western Highway, in the old Hogs Breath Cafe car park. The menu is Cajun seafood boils, American soul food plates and street food, and the Cajun sauce is the main event.

What’s a seafood boil?

It’s a Louisiana tradition. Seafood, corn, potatoes and sausage get cooked in one big pot, then tossed through a spicy, buttery sauce. You eat it with your hands, straight from the pile. Calli’s serves it in a bucket, drowned in Cajun sauce.

What to order

Start with the Cajun Seafood Boil Plate. It’s loaded with peeled prawns, half shell mussels, corn, potato and pork kransky, with rice on the side. Rolling in with a group? Get a seafood bucket and split it. They come in three sizes, so you can scale up for the whole table.

Not feeling seafood? The Soul Food Plate with lamb chops is one of their most-ordered dishes. The lamb fries are grilled lamb piled on chips with torched cheese and BBQ sauce. Regulars also rate the Beef and Reef steak, smothered in Cajun sauce.

The Seafood Boil Plate is $40, and buckets are $35 for a small, $55 for a medium and $70 for a large. The Soul Food Plate is $36, lamb chops with rice are $28 and lamb fries are $23. For something lighter, there’s Cajun Kransky and Rice for $17, or hot chips for $12.

This is a casual, eat outdoors kind of night. The food truck park has other trucks on site, so your mates who aren’t into seafood are covered. Calli’s also throws events at the park, from the Western Sydney Filipino Food Festival to a Halloween Trunk or Treat with live DJs. Follow their socials so you don’t miss the next one.

Calli’s sits on a 4.5 star rating from more than 1,000 Uber Eats reviews. Sydney Food Brothers called the boil generous and said the Cajun sauce alone would bring them back. Big portions and bold flavour come up again and again.

It’s dinner only, Wednesday to Sunday. Food trucks can shift plans for weather or events, so check their socials before you drive over. Don’t wear white, because the sauce goes everywhere. Bring a group and order a bucket, since it’s better value shared. Not great with spice? Ask how hot the sauce is when you order.

Hooked on the sauce? Calli’s sells its own Cajun spice mix at the food truck park, Jacks Seafood in Mt Druitt and Atlantic Seafood at Westfield Mt Druitt. Grab some prawns and mussels while you’re there and host your own boil night.
